the immersion in a stadium happens in three steps - the approach, the entrance an the viewing. through these steps the spectator transitions from an individual with his own emotions an thoughts to being part of a homogenous mass with the sole concentration on the game. this continual concentration of the atmosphere is created through the architecture. hereby the architecture makes use of one classical and one modern motive: the spectator ranks are incorporated into the topography , much like the stadiums found in ancient greece. thus the architecture takes on the human scale outwardly and frees the stadium from its facade which is normally used for shopping as well as office spaces. this allows the sole focus to be on the game itself. the modern motiv of the roof allows a greater focus on the playing field in order to elevate this central space. hereby the supporting structure of the roof is completely outside the viewing field of the spectators. on one hand this allows a view without distractions, on the other the roof its- elf is allowed to have a maximal effect through its reduced form.
