the project was developed with the physique of a spider in mind. equal to her thorax, only held up by thin legs, the roof of the covered market seemingly floats above the ground. held up by curved supports, it is visually lifted and embedded bet- ween the static structure. the top edges rise laterally over the roof out of the visitor‘s field of view. the feet of the supports on the other hand reach into the space below. this allows the light to be guided along the supports into the room. the roof is suspended by tensioning cables. these penetrate through the roof and reach into the middle of the hall to hold it in the air. the dimensioning of the elements and the forces were compiled and checked mathematically as well as graphically.
